Top [Eight] ALL TIME Favorite Authors

top ten tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

Holy cow, this week’s topic is a bit crazy, but I shall try my best… These eight authors are my auto-buy authors, write works I cherish or that have blown my mind, or that I’ve had the amazing privilege of meeting in person. These are the authors I just can’t get enough of, and whose books will always have a special place in my heart!

These are in absolutely no particular order! I was actually surprised that I couldn’t pick ten, but that just shows just how much I love these authors for them to make my list!

1. Leigh Bardugo

Author of The Grisha Trilogy (Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising), Six of Crows

There’s just something about Leigh Bardugo’s books that are just AMAZING. I can’t quite put my finger on whether it’s her characters, her writing, or her plots, but the books are absolutely fantastic and she’s definitely on my auto-buy list!

2. Jenny Han

Author of the Summer series (The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You, We’ll Always Have Summer), To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before & P.S. I Still Love You, and more!

Jenny Han is the author that made me fall in love with YA contemporary books. The Summer I Turned Pretty was the start, and I will now forever read whatever she writes! I had the amazing opportunity to meet her three years ago, and I’ll forever remember the experience!

3. Mindy McGinnis

Author of Not A Drop to Drink & In A Handful of Dust, A Madness So Discreet

I fell in love with Mindy McGinnis’ harsh storytelling and sharp writing with Not A Drop to Drink, and my love continued in In A Handful of Dust. Her next upcoming book is in a different genre of her first two, but I am still so excited because I’m convinced I’ll love whatever she writes!

4. Stephanie Perkins

Author of Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door & Isla and the Happily Ever After

I’m sure the lovely Ms. Perkins has made everyone’s list. I simply adore her adorable stories and cute romances. Another contemporary author that has made me fall in love with YA contemporary!

5. J.K. Rowling

Author of the Harry Potter series, The Casual Vacancy, Cormoran Strike series, and more!

Of course J.K. Rowling had to make my list. I don’t think she needs much of an explanation, really. All I think I really need to say is that the only books I’ve ever re-read for fun have been the Harry Potter series. Period.

6. Marie Rutkoski

Author of The Shadow Society, The Winner’s Trilogy (The Winner’s Curse, The Winner’s Crime & The Winner’s Kiss), and more!

I blatantly display my love for this amazing woman on my blog, so you already know that I adore her and her books. When I got the chance to meet her last year I was fangirling so hard on the inside oh my goodness! I actually hadn’t realized that when I was in elementary school I had read and loved her book The Cabinet of Wonders. I only realized it was her book when I read The Winner’s Curse for the first time!

7. Michael Scott

Author of The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series

He’s an author that I started reading a LONG time ago. Many years before I got into blogging, just at the beginning of when I was transitioning to YA from MG books. I flew through his books, and I would eagerly rush out on the pub date of the next book in his series! I really hope he comes out with another YA book or series soon!

8. Jennifer E. Smith

Author of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, You Are Here, This Is What Happy Looks Like, The Geography of You and Me, and more!

Another contemporary author who writes absolutely adorable romances that I just love to pick up when I want something fun and sweet. She writes books that have such unrealistic occurrences, but makes them seem like they could happen to you or me (and wish they did). I had the amazing chance to meet her as well, and I was my fangirly self as usual! Her next book looks amazing and I need it now! *grabby hands*

So that’s it! Those are my eight favorite authors of all time! Who made your list?

Top Ten Books I Recently Added to My (Never-ending) TBR Pile

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

Oh hey… I’m finally doing a TTT post! Really, this is the first list in a while that I felt like I could provide a solid list of ten (or more) books to share with you. I’m ALWAYS adding books to my TBR pile, and it just so happens I went on an adding binge recently. A lot are books that aren’t even titled yet… In lieu of that situation, I decided to stick with books that are releasing in the not so distant future!

1. Lady of Magick by Sylvia Izzo Hunter (sequel to The Midnight Queen)
2. Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
3. Emancipated by M.G. Reyes
4. Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry
5. Vendetta by Catherine Doyle

6. First & Then by Emma Mills
7. Promises I Made by Michelle Zink (sequel to Lies I Told)
8. Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith
9. The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore
10. These Vicious Masks by Kelly Zekas and Tarun Shanker

What books have you added to your TBR recently?

Top Ten YA Fantasy Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read

I am a self-proclaimed fantasy addict, but these books that I have yet to read put me to shame!

1. Graceling by Kristin Cashore | 2. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien | 3. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor | 4. The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan | 5. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I’ve had Graceling on my shelf FOREVER which makes it even more shameful that I haven’t read it. The Hobbit, I found to be really boring when I started it the first time, but maybe I’ll give it a go sometime in the future. DoSaB looks amazing, but I’ve heard the writing is a bit strange, so I know I have to be in the right mood. The Percy Jackson series I’ve just never really had an interest in, to be honest. And Throne of Glass I mentioned in my last WiR post that I’ll be reading next!!!

6. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson | 7. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch | 8. Eon by Alison Goodman | 9. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken | 10. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Mistborn and all things Brandon Sanderson has just come to my attention late last year. Snow Like Ashes got rave reviews when it first came out and it looks like something I’d LOVE. Eon has been on my TBR for a while but its size is a little intimidating. It’s a duology, though, which we don’t see all the time in the fantasy genre. I bought Brightly Woven a couple of years ago when I got to meet Alexandra Bracken, and I loved The Darkest Minds so much I’m excited to see how she does fantasy! Lastly, there’s Falling Kingdoms which I’ve also heard pretty good things about, but that cover! So BA!

Those are some fantasy books I can’t believe I haven’t read yet! What about you?

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To

This is so difficult for me to do this because there were SO MANY books that I wanted to read that were released last year and just didn’t get around to for whatever reason. But I have a feeling everyone is in the same boat as me… In no particular order, here are the books that made my list!

Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay | The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’brien | Wings by Elizabeth Richards | Summer State of Mind by Jen Calonita | Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

Princess of Thorns was a case of my NetGalley requesting restraint, but it was a mistake, according to everyone that has read it. I should have gone for it! The Vault of Dreamers was getting some mixed reviews, but it sounded like my kind of book despite other reviewer’s complaints. Wings is the last book in Richards’ Black City trilogy which I LOVE — guilty pleasure sexy goodness! Summer State of Mind is the companion to Sleepaway Girls that I read a million years ago but adored for its cuteness. And Prisoner of Night and Fog just sound SO INTRIGUING. World War II fascinates me in a disturbing kind of way, and this book sounds like my kind of read.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi | Her Dark Curiosity by Megan Shepherd | The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen | Jackaby by William Ritter | Biggest Flirts by Jennifer Echols

Ignite Me was one of those were I told myself I absolutely HAD to read it immediately after Unravel Me, but just didn’t get around to it, unfortunately. Her Dark Curiosity, like with Ignite Me, I just didn’t get to. But I adored The Madman’s Daughter, so this one has high priority for 2015. The Queen of the Tearling was a book that I wanted to read because everyone else was reading it, and Emma Watson was already cast as the main character. I actually kept putting off buying it because man is it expensive for a book! Jackaby was one I was hearing nothing but amazing things about. Biggest Flirts is by Jennifer Echols, and her books are promised to be super cute, plus this series is pretty popular right now as the third(?) book is coming out soon.

What 2014 releases did you mean to read but didn’t get the chance?
