Waiting on… The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson

waiting on wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which we share a book that we are eagerly anticipating!

Publisher: Henry Holt and Co. (BYR)
Release Date: July 7th, 2015
Synopsis from Goodreads:

Intrigue abounds in this hotly anticipated sequel to The Kiss of Deception!

Held captive in the barbarian kingdom of Venda, Lia and Rafe have little chance of escape. Desperate to save her life, Lia’s erstwhile assassin, Kaden, has told the Vendan Komizar that she has the gift, and the Komizar’s interest in Lia is greater than anyone could have foreseen.

Meanwhile, nothing is straightforward: there’s Rafe, who lied to Lia, but has sacrificed his freedom to protect her; Kaden, who meant to assassinate her but has now saved her life; and the Vendans, whom Lia always believed to be barbarians. Now that she lives amongst them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country… and her own destiny.

why i can't wait

Well, when I reviewed the first book back in June, I pretty much raved about how good it was. So, naturally, I’m really eager to get my hands on this one! (I mean, I was since the day I finished The Kiss of Deception!) This one sounds like the stakes have been raised and it promises a lot more action than the previous book. I can’t wait to see where the story takes Lia and the others next!

Highlight to view kind-of spoiler: Also, are you guys still shocked by the revelation of who was the prince and who was the assassin?? I give Mary E. Pearson props for the writing when it came to that one!

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

  1. I haven’t read the Kiss of Deception YET but the synopsis is so intriguing!! I can’t wait to read it, I want to read it when all the books are out.
I hope you love this one and that the wait isn’t too painful! I hate having to wait for the next book in a series, that’s why I try to wait for every book to come out! 🙂 I wish you luck! 😀
